About the Event

Who is the Dalai Lama and why does everyone love him when they meet him, even those who think they won’t? What would it take on China’s part to bring about a peaceful re solution to the dire situation in Tibet? What could a free, restored Tibet—as an autonomous region within China—look like? What would it mean to Tibetans, to China and to the world?
In writing his latest book, Why the
Dalai Lama Matters, Robert Thurman set out to present this beloved 'leader of
world leaders' to the public by answering three important questions: Who is the
Dalai Lama and why does everyone love him when they meet him, even those who
think they won't? What would it take on China's part to bring about a peaceful resolution
to the dire situation in Tibet? What could a free, restored Tibet—as an
autonomous region within China—look like and what would it mean to Tibetans, to
China and to the world? In this evening
